Elite Enterprise Young Enterprise Company Of The Year
Youngsters from Boston Federated Grammar Schools were crowned overall winners at the 2010 Lincolnshire and Rutland County Final Young Enterprise Innovation Awards.
Securing themselves a place at the East Midlands Regional Final at East Midlands Conference Centre (Monday 14th June), the team of 17-year-olds impressed judges with their product Octopets made out of wool.
By using the skills one of the team had learnt as a child they turned simple idea into a profitable business venture as part of the Young Enterprise scheme. As well as winning the Lincolnshire and Rutland Company of the Year award, Elite Enterprise also won the Award for Innovation and Best Company Report.

Lee Boney, Head of Business and Economics at Boston Federated Grammar Schools, said: “The students - like all those who got through to the county final - worked hard and had to face the usual difficulties associated with setting up and running a company but triumphed over adversity.
“In the last eight years that I have been involved in the Young Enterprise scheme Elite Enterprise needed the least intervention from staff. They are completely self-motivated and all of their achievements rest with them and their talent.”
Pupils from four other schools across Lincolnshire and Rutland also reached the county final at Bishop Grosseteste University College in Lincoln, battling it out for the six awards up for grabs.
