webit pr Limited
North Hykeham-based online press release distribution and monitoring company webitpr has really profited from receiving an Innovation Lincolnshire grant.
webitpr was established in 2001 and distributes news across the online platform and monitors its coverage.
Seeking to improve their business, the company recently launched a highly innovative social media news release (SMNR) service. This is a new type of press release aimed at giving journalists and bloggers factual information in an accessible format without 'spin'.
webitpr is the first company in the UK to offer this service, which has attracted a number of blue-chip global companies, including ITV.
Having received emails and flyers from Innovation Lincolnshire outlining the support they offer to local businesses, Adam Parker of webitpr approached them for help with the development and promotion of this new service.
"I contacted Innovation Lincolnshire and they set up a meeting for me with an Innovation Manager who then carried out an assessment to determine what we wanted to achieve and what assistance we were eligible for… and we were awarded a £15,000 grant," said Adam.
"The grant was spread across several different areas, contributing to web site development and technical elements including programming. It enabled us to seek trademark advice and registration, as well as helping us produce a video to promote the new service.
"We also utilised some external London-based agency staff to test the market for the product, identifying customers who might be interested."
While facing a number of technical barriers in developing the product, Adam estimates that around a third of their new business is a result of their SMNR service, improving both the company's profitability and its market share.
"The coverage we received from the new release template has positioned us as one of the thought leaders in online public relations and raised our profile. We are seen as one of the key parties who have driven this approach, leading to large well known brands using us."
