Pozzani Pure Water Plc
Mentoring from Innovation Lincolnshire is helping a Louth firm to develop a revolutionary new water filtration product.
Thanks to Innovation Lincolnshire Pozzani Pure Water Plc has been able to keep the design and manufacture of its innovative filter cartridge in the UK rather than outsourcing the work overseas.
Pozzani Pure Water specialises in the manufacture and supply of a range of water filters and softeners for domestic and industrial use.
One of its most popular products is a domestic plumbed-in water filter system which does away with the need for bottled water or filter jugs.
"We're constantly trying to improve our products and we came up with a new type of water filter cartridge which fits one of our existing housings," said Pozzani's Managing Director Steve Malloney.
"This new cartridge considerably improves performance and has been designed to be easily recycled - we think we're the first company to do this."
Pozzani Pure Water Plc approached Innovation Lincolnshire for help when it came to manufacturing the new cartridge, which will be injection-moulded.
"Innovation Lincolnshire has enabled us to work with British companies rather than go overseas," says Steve. "We will be able to achieve the same end results while retaining a lot more control over the project.
"Without the support of Innovation Lincolnshire the project wouldn't have been economic.
Steve praised Innovation Manager Christina King for her input. "She has also done a lot of research and put us in touch with some really useful resources - I can't really praise her highly enough."
Pozzani Pure Water is now working with Polymer Training Ltd in Shropshire to finalise the design of the cartridge before putting the tooling for the product out to tender.
Although Pozzani is a small firm this innovative product will be a world first. Steve acknowledges that producing the cartridge successfully would have been difficult without Innovation Lincolnshire's help.
"As a small manufacturing company it's hard for us to cover all the disciplines required to compete with larger companies on a level footing," he says.
"That's where an organisation like Innovation Lincolnshire is extremely useful."
